Breathing and Movements is a programme which supports stoma patient recovery after surgery. Split into four easy-to-follow phases and focusing on breathing, core connection, strength, and stability, the programme provides a series of movements which promotes safe activity and can help to reduce the risk of developing a parastomal hernia.

This course has been developed for Stoma Care Nurses and healthcare professionals caring for patients with a stoma. In this course, you will learn all about the programme and how to introduce it in practice, empowering patients to take an active role in their recovery. Breathing and Movements is suitable for most stoma patients no matter their age, ability, or stage of recovery. With a wide range of movements that can be performed standing, sitting, or lying, the programme can be adapted to suit each patient’s recovery needs.
